The Hiker Box is happy to provide the following services:
-Gear Shakedowns (free). Are you preparing for a backpacking trip and want help deciding your gear list? Bring it to us! We will go through your gear (including footwear, clothing, and food planning) and make suggestions on gear you need to add, gear you can leave at home, and gear upgrades that will make your pack lighter.
Gear shakedowns can happen virtually. Email us for instructions.
-Pack fitting (free). We will measure you and fit you with the best pack for your needs and frame. If you already have a pack and it doesn't feel great when you put it on, bring it in and see if we can help adjust it.
-Special orders (no additional fee). We realize there is too much great gear out there for us to carry it all in the shop. But we are happy to special order something from a brand we carry at no additional cost. Please email us for more information.
-Rentals (prices vary). We rent a variety of equipment for day use, weekend trips, and longer. We rent tents, sleeping bags, sleeping pads, backpacks, trekking poles, snowshoes, hammocks, bear canisters, and more. A sample of gear and prices are below. Please email us for more information.
Snowshoes (Tubbs, various styles and sizes including kids and BOA closures) - $15/day or $25 for two days.
2-person or 4-person tent (Big Agnes or Kelty) - $30-$45 for up to 3 days
Hammock & Straps (ENO) - starting at $20 for up to 3 days
Sleeping Bag (Big Agnes or Kelty) - $25-30 for up to 3 days
Backpack (Kelty or Osprey) - starting at $35
All rental equipment may be rented longer, with per day discounts depending on length of rental
