Rising dramatically from Superior, the mineral-stained cliffs of Pictured Rocks have a profound affect on all who visit them. But Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, in Michigan&##39;s Upper Peninsula, is much more than its fabled shoreline. It is also thousands of acres of forest filled with wildflowers, lakes, rivers and waterfalls. It is shipwrecks, lighthouses, and shifting sand dunes. 

Craig Blacklock has traveled Pictured Rocks throughout all seasons, via kayak and on foot, providing us with both a naturalist&##39;s and and artist&##39;s view of this magnificent park. 

Most images in this collection were photographed with a high-resolution digital camera. Many of the photographs were made from several captures, each at a different focus point or different exposure. This process is similar to how human vision and memory create and store images, and the resulting blended images depict the subjects more accurately than photographs made with a single capture. Never before has the beauty of Pictured Rocks been so spectacularly displayed.
